THE DEEP-FRIED MAPLE LEAF SNACKS OF JAPAN

OMG! All this time we've been raking those leaves instead of deep-frying them!

This unique treat from the Osaka area in Japan called ‘Momiji Tempura’, (named from the Japanese Maple tree with the same name), is made by dipping your clean Japanese maple leaves into some sweetened tempura batter and then deep frying them in hot vegetable oil. How much simpler can it get?
Some people even preserve the leaves for a year in salt barrels before frying them, according to Kotaku.

So if you want to whip some up and want a more detailed recipe, check out this link.
